The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule affords members the right to receive a notice that describes how health information may be used and disclosed and how to get access to this information.

Aetna Funding Advantage plan is self-insured and is subject to the Privacy Rule as a “Covered Entity.” Aetna® acts as a claim administrator for the Aetna Funding Advantage plans, so is also subject to the HIPAA Privacy Rule as a “Business Associate.”
